Being impactful: There is a reliable formula to it! On the 24th of August 2017, the impACT Kabul Conference was successfully launched at Safi Landmark Hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan. Philia is besides AGHAEZ and Kabul BookClub one of the co-founding organisations of this format.
Why is Philia involved in the impACT initiative? Simply because impACT stands for three things that Philia also stands for sustainability, innovation and collaboration.
Nicole Bogott, CEO of Philia, has been spearheading the organisation of the conference and to set up the initiative as a whole.
Under the heading “Creating Startup Success” the event highlighted how impactful entrepreneurship can be created: with suitable strategies, the right team and essential resources. These findings emerged from the recently published book* on startups by the German author Nicole Bogott, who currently resides in Kabul, Afghanistan. The Power Triangle model is a registered trademark, which emphasizes the significance of knowledge, resources and networks as the basic ingredients for impact and influence.
Together with the expertise of Ahmad Fahim Didar, founder of AGHAEZ and organiser of Google Startup Grind Series in Afghanistan and Matiullah Rahmaty, co-founder of BookClub Afghanistan, impACT emerged.
impACT is a new platform that was born in Kabul. It supports learning about these three elements in various ways. impACT Kabul brought together successful Afghan entrepreneurs to highlight the acquisition and management of the three power aspects in engaging speeches.
Further, the platform highlights startup success through compelling and inspiring visuals. In this first edition of impACT, which took place in Afghanistan, there were Afghan startups featured in a photo exhibition.
The third method of learning is through hands-on workshops and breakout sessions. In these sessions, the participants focus on implementation. There were four workshops offered by the following organisations: Samuel Hall, AGHAEZ, BookClub Afghanistan and Philia. While Philia and Samuel Hall focused on the networking aspect, AGHAEZ focused on resources and BookClub Afghanistan on knowledge.
In the Kabul edition of impACT, Afghan entrepreneurs were brought together with returnees. Out of 250 participants, more than 100 were returnees from various countries around the world. The aim of impACT was to support returnees and entrepreneurs to meet and discuss new avenues of cooperation and support.
Participating organisations were AGHAEZ, the American University of Afghanistan, BookClub Afghanistan, GIZ, Institut Francais, IOM, Samuel Hall and Philia. The next conference will take place in Berlin, Germany. Stay tuned!
